Please encourage fighters in your club to
have a go! These tournaments are a fantastic forum for NEW fighters to
participate in - in a controlled situation.
Several of our countries best MMA fighters
started in Sport Ju Jitsu, so use these tournaments as a step up for
inexperienced fighters. And of course the open divisions will guarantee a
challenge for the more advanced fighters! I can confirm already that some
excellent and experienced fighters will be there…
SPONSORSHIP
A portion of our venue costs have been
sponsored by a new martial art supplies company that is based in Palmerston
North called “The Armoury”.
A stall will be available during the tournament for you to view and purchase
equipment. In addition, “The
Armoury” has kindly offered to donate some prizes for the Open Divisions. Many thanks
to

UP AND COMING EVENTS
It is important that we start to bring Ju
Jitsu clubs together… We want to let you know what is happening around
NZ! The following tournaments have now also been scheduled:
27th September
Rules are similar to SJJ
Free Fighting Rules with some minor modifications:
·
Scored on rounds (first to
2 rounds wins)
·
Submissions win a round
·
2 minute rounds (90 seconds
for kids)
There will also be a “Teams”
category (4 fighters with a combined weight U300kg). If you do not have a team
you can go freelance into this competition and the organisers will try and put
you into a team on the day.
This tournament is a Tare
Two SJJ Tournament. This means that all entrants and coaches need to be
members of NZJJF. Results will be published on the website and will also count
towards national rankings and SJJ black belt eligibility however it will be run
on a local level by a local club.
Thanks to Christiaan
